When treating animals, it is important to remember that not every animal is the same. They come in different sizes, shapes, and species. Every animal is highly unique. It is this uniqueness that requires a pharmacist to become a problem solver by providing specially compounded medications to meet every animal's specific needs. Just like with humans, there are animal patients that do not respond to traditional therapy or are unable to take commercially available medications because of special circumstances. Compounding allows a veterinarian to prescribe a customized medication that is not available normally, or to place a medication in a dosage form/strength to meet that patient's specific needs. At Central Drugs, we formulate innovative, easy-to-use dosage forms for animals. We work hard to help veterinarians and animal care specialists solve many of their medication problems.

Dogs & Cats
Dogs and cats can be some of our best friends, but giving them the medication they require can be one of the most difficult tasks to do. Having to pry open their mouth and force medication down their throat is not the most effective or pleasant way to give them medication. Fortunately, Central Drugs offers several different ways to medicate your dogs and cats. Listed below are just a few of the ways we can help medicate your best friend.
• Flavored Suspension/Solutions - Dogs and cats love meat, liver, chicken and tuna, among many other flavors. With such variety, it makes sense to incorporate their medication into one of them. We are able to customize a suspension/solution into their favorite flavor. As an added bonus, medications are available in measured oral applicators so there is no guess work involved.
• Transdermal Gels - This is one of the easiest and most innovative ways to administer medication to your dog or cat. We have the capability to place nearly any medication into a gel that is rubbed on the pet?s external ear. The gel comes pre-measured and since it goes into the ear, your pet is unable to realize they are being medicated
• Pet ChewsTM Animal Treats - Medication is placed into a flavored, soft chewable pet treat. These allow you to both reward and medicate your pet at the same time.
• Capsules - Some pets require numerous medications to be given to them at a time. Instead of having to administer several treatments at a time, we can combine them into a single dose for your pet.
• Injections - Whenpets need specialized injectable forms of medication, we can name them in the strength desired.

Birds & Exotics
Birds and other exotic animals are often rather tricky to medicate. Commercially available medications are normally dosed for traditional pets (dogs and cats). This makes it difficult to medicate birds and exotics because the strengths needed are often not available. Whether your exotic pet requires a small volume of medication, or a much larger dose, we can customize medications to meet the strength and doses required, as well as, flavor it to their liking.
